December 24, 2010

Another Christmas Eve - and to be honest - it doesn't even feel like it! Christmas snuck up pretty fast this year. It has been a pretty fun/interesting day today. First we had our 3 hour weekly planning session. After that we went to Panda Express for lunch (weekly planning works up an appetite!). After lunch we stopped by a focus person in the YSA ward. His name is Paul and he has recently been reactivating A few weeks ago he told us that the church has really done a lot for him and that he's sticking with it. Today's visit was weird. We think he was under the influence. He went off on how the BoM is not true and how he doesn't believe any of it. It was not a good feeling. E. Wickel said to give him a few weeks and he'll change his mind. So we are going to continue to help him. Then tonight we ate dinner at the Robason's. Bro. Robason teaches our Gospel Principles class in the Concord 2nd ward. We were grateful for having us over but the whole dinner was pretty awkward. After dinner we played a "white elephant" game with the 5 of us there, and then after that they made us put elf hats on and took pictures of us to send to our families. It was a little bit weird. We were supposed to be in Lafayette (15 minutes away) at the Vanhooven's with Veronica at 6:30, b ut we weren't able to get out of the Robason's until 7:00. So we were really late to the Vanhooven's, but just in time to join them for their traditional Christmas Eve family sing along/story telling. It was fun. We could only stay for about 20 minutes because we had to meet Alexa at the institute at 8:00 for her baptismal interview. We had to walk out in the middle of their program (I felt really bad) and speed over to the institute. We were driving really fast, and almost went off the road when we took a turn too sharp, but all is well. (California has really turned me into a horrible driver). So Alexa passed her interview and is ready to be baptized!
