January 25, 2011

Well, a few days ago, I got the most surprising transfer call of my mission. I thought for sure that I would get a call from President Wade on Sat. morning to release me from ZL, but the call never came. So, me and E. Wickel assumed we were staying together. So, the call came that night and I have been transferred to serve as the San Francisco East (Tongan Zone) ZL. We serve in the Peninsula 2nd and 4th wards. My comp. is E. Neiufi - from Tonga of course. So I have mixed feelings about it all. I'm excited for the new experience and a chance to learn and grow, but this is not how I expected to end my mission. It is a little frustrating being in a language program when you can't speak the language. I feel like I've finally acquired the skills to be an effective missionary and now I won't be able to use them to the fullest. But, I know that I'm here for a reason. I know I can work hard, learn, and help people come closer to God - the best I know how. Today was my first day and it was pretty good. E. Neiufi was trying to give me directions as we were driving, and he told me to make a left turn when it was illegal. I didn't see the sign either and we got pulled over and got a ticket. But we had an amazing lesson tonight with an investigator named Vickey. The spirit was there and we invited her to be baptized and she said yes!
