Hey Family!
We had a great conference weekend. We watched the first session (sat. morning) with our investigator Willie (in the Castro! We watched conference in one of the most wicked places on earth!) He bought the BYU channel just to watch conference! He loved it! Then we watched the sat afternoon session near downtown at one of our chapels. Then we watched the priesthood session at our stake center in Pacifica. Sunday morning we were at our Ward Mission Leaders house in the sunset ward, with our investigator Rex. Then Sun afternoon we watched it at the "frat house". Its like the hang out place for the members of the singles ward. Its a house were like 12 members live. They have a nice big screen tv, and about 50 members of the singles ward were there - including our investigator Matt! Matt is the biggest miracles of my mission so far. He is the most sincere and prepared investigator that I have ever taught! We have been teaching him for barely a month and he is so ready to be baptized this weekend! After the Sun. afternoon session we drove to Danville (across the Bay - right next to San Ramon, my first area!). We went to a baptism of an investigator that Elder Kesler taught. Matt wanted to see a baptism before his, so he came with us! After the baptism we went to the Visitors Center and watched the Joseph Smith movie. Matt loved it! So it was a spiritually awesome day. Matt watched 2 sessions of conference, went to a baptism then spent a few hours at the Visitors Center! He is awesome.
Our other investigators are doing good as well. Pah and Pom speak great English as well as Hmong. Pah is loving what she is learning, but feels uncomfortable praying. Tonight we have a lesson with them, and we are going to have her say the closing prayer for the first time. It going to be powerful.
Rex is still doing pretty good. He has a lot of questions and it is hard for him to understand the principle of faith. (and that is a problem since that is the first step!) We shared with him a few lessons ago how we learn line upon line, a little bit at a time, and how the Lord will continue to give us knowledge and answers to prayers as we continue to diligently obey. We told him to keep building, and he said that he is still waiting to hit that first line, and that he cant build on anything that doesn't exist. So we keep praying...
This week we have Zone Conference, and we have Elder Jenson from the 70 coming to tour our mission. He is a member of the 70 and is also the historian of the church. It will be a good meeting.
That was crazy to hear about the girl that Tyson met! He didn't email me - I wonder who it was! If you could follow up with him and let me know, that would be great.
Well, family I love you very much!
-Elder Cook
I Love You Cook Family. I can't wait to be Legally part of your family!!! --Elder Kesler
